Singing 101

What does it take to be a singer? In four sessions, participants will discover or perhaps re-visit techniques used in vocal music. Together, the group will study vocal production, proper breathing, pronunciation, voice types, and basic note reading. This course is perfect for those who wish to more intentionally use their voice or brush-up on technique. No experience necessary to participate, everyone can learn the tools to sing well.

Session 2: August 4, 11, 18, 25

Finding Your Voice

Students will meet in six sessions over a 10-day period to discover techniques used in vocal music. Together they will experiment with vocal production via song assignments, simple worksheets, and video links.  Topics include proper breathing, pronunciation, voice types and ranges, basic note reading, and interpreting a song for performance.  The six sessions will culminate in a final virtual recital.

Music Exploration Camp

Discover the many facets of the musical world— different styles, instruments, performers, and ways to think about music. These four sessions include virtual visits with instruments, group songs, learning musical notation, and listening games.  No musical training necessary, all are welcome.

Age: 6-11

Dates: July 20, 21, 22, 23

Time: 10-11am

Music Theory Camp

An introduction to the basics of music theory to get students started and help them prepare for further musical studies. Students in these four sessions will study the fundamentals of harmony, form, rhythm, and ear training.  A perfect class for those studying an instrument or voice.

Time: 5:30-6:30pm

Class Limit: 15

Group Song Project

Collaborate with friends and professional musicians to create a song.  Students will meet for four sessions to compose music, write lyrics, and arrange an original piece. Musicians of all backgrounds are encouraged to join this creative process.

Age 6-11, 12-18

Time: 10-11am, 1-2pm

Dates: August 10, 11, 12, 13

Cost: $50

Class Limit: 10 per age group
